Join us in shaping cleaner, healthier air on London’s waterways

The Healthy Waterways London project will only be worthwhile if it works in the best interests of London’s boating community, and participatory co-design is at the heart of how we want to deliver the project.

What is this all about?

Phase 2 of the Healthy Waterways London project involves creating an awareness campaign about air quality and health, and how we can tackle air pollution together along London’s waterways.

To support this, we’re inviting members of the boating community to take part in a series of co-design workshops in early 2026. These sessions will be led by Iram Quraishi from Loop Labs and will explore your experiences and challenges around air pollution, and share practical ways to reduce exposure.

Read more about the awareness campaign and get in contact with Iram if you would like to take part.

Phase 3 involves creating a Healthy Waterways Strategy setting out recommendations and opportunities for boaters, local councils and other stakeholders to take positive action for cleaner air and climate.

The Strategy will also be co-designed with members of London’s boating community and will feature case studies and examples of real projects that have helped to reduce air pollution and protect health.

Read more about the Healthy Waterways Strategy and share your project or experience of making a sustainability change to your boat.

Who can get involved?

Anyone living onboard a boat in London, whether you are a continuous cruiser, have a permanent mooring, or another arrangement.

Why should I get involved?

Your insights will directly inform the creation of new awareness campaign materials designed specifically for the boating community. Ultimately, you will be helping a project that is designed to better protect everyone’s health.

How do I get involved?
